Laser Resurfacing

Core Plastic Surgery

Lasers have completely changed and enormously enlarged the number of procedures that a cosmetic surgeon can do for you. Of course there are many lasers and only some are appropriate for use on human tissue. They are cool lasers which can be programmed to penetrate only a set distance. They cause no damage to untargeted areas.

Laser Resurfacing is also called laser peel and laser rejuvenation. It can be done in two ways: ablative and non-ablative. An ablative treatment removes the surface skin layer, and a non-ablative treatment leaves it intact, instead penetrating to the next layer down, the dermis. Both methods work by stimulating the dermal layer to produce more and tighter skin cells. You can choose how deep you’d like your treatment to be. A deeper penetration requires more recovery time. Laser Resurfacing is often done in a series of about four treatments, because each one improves on what the previous one did, so that your skin ends up being much more youthful-looking and smooth.
