Vaser Lipo (vaser liposuction) is a minimally invasive body sculpting procedure that uses ultrasound waves to reduce fat and smooth the skin's surface without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. Vaser, an acronym for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance, is a minimally invasive liposuction tool delivering ultrasound energy in pulses through a probe specially designed to prevent overexposure. Vaser allows layers of fat around muscle groups to be targeted, liquefied, and extracted. Because of its precision, it is also known as "LipoSelection". A single treatment generally takes anywhere from one hour to several hours depending on the extent of your needs.

Preparation for Vaser Lipo starts with your consultation during which time Dr. Core evaluates the area of your body on which the procedure will be performed. Once he confirms Vaser Lipo is the best option for you, we go over the procedure and provide you with detailed pre-operative instructions.
Vaser Lipo uses a handheld device that sends ultrasound waves to your targeted area of fat. The waves break up fatty tissue leaving surrounding tissues largely untouched. By using VASER's ultrasound technology, Dr. Core removes fat as gently as possible, as well as sculpts the treatment area into a more toned, attractive contour. The treatment is performed under a local or general anesthesia and takes about one hour to perform.
After the procedure, our Birmingham Vaser Liposuction patients are generally recommended to take 12 hours to rest and to avoid strenuous activity, such as exercise for two to three weeks. Dr. Core will consult with you on an individual basis to determine the best plan for your recovery.
You should rest for the remainder of the day following your Vaser Lipo treatment. Additionally, you may experience only minimal bruising and swelling. Finally, any strenuous activities should be avoided for about three weeks following the treatment. Swelling will continue to improve over the weeks following your VASER Liposuction.
