What can often be an effective way of rejuvenating the skin and restoring a more refreshed and youthful appearance is to remove outer layers of skin cells to bring out the healthier layers underneath. A variety of cosmetic enhancement treatments can accomplish this, such as Microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and laser skin resurfacing; however, a technologically advanced laser procedure called the MicroLaserPeel®, available from Dr. Grady Core, can renew your skin with beautiful results and minimal downtime.
The MicroLaserPeel® can improve a number of skin conditions, including signs of fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, sun damage, areas that are rough or dull, and even mild acne scarring. Most areas of skin can be treated with this procedure, with the most popular being the face and neck. The MicroLaserPeel® often yields significant results after a single treatment; however, some patients may need a series of treatments to obtain optimal results.
The erbium laser used in MicroLaserPeel® procedures gently removes a thin layer of damaged skin cells to make way for fresh cells to grow and present themselves. These fresh skin cells help to give your skin a healthier appearance with better color-balance and texture to the skin, as well as a smoother sheen. During the MicroLaserPeel® procedure, a computer-guided laser will be gently glided over the treatment area. A topical numbing agent can be applied to the target area for the most comfortable treatment possible. Most patients experience a mild sunburn sensation after the procedure; however, this can be alleviated with ointment and cool compresses. Depending on each individual patient and the extent of treatment that is necessary, the entire MicroLaserPeel® procedure should take only about 15 to 30 minutes to complete.
Recovery from MicroLaserPeel® treatment is usually fairly quick – most patients can resume normal daily activities within three to four days. Some redness and mild swelling can be expected after treatment, but these side effects should fade within a few days. Patients are advised to avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight until the skin has fully healed. About three to four days after MicroLaserPeel® treatment, you should notice improvement in the appearance of your skin in the treated area.
