At Core Plastic Surgery, Grady Core, M.D., F.A.C.S., uses MicroLaserPeel® on people living in and around Birmingham and Mountain Brook to significantly diminish wrinkles, lines, sun damage and other skin conditions with minimal downtime to leave the skin refreshed and younger looking.
What is MicroLaserPeel?
The MicroLaserPeel, also called a “weekend peel,” is a cutting-edge skin care treatment that combines the best of microdermabrasion, laser treatments, and chemical peels to rejuvenate skin by removing the outermost layers where much of the damage occurs. The results are amazing with minimal downtime.
Benefits of MicroLaserPeel
Most areas of skin can be treated with this procedure, with the most popular being the face and neck
The MicroLaserPeel can improve a number of skin conditions, including signs of fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, sun damage, areas that are rough or dull, and even mild acne scarring. The MicroLaserPeel often yields significant results after a single treatment; however, some patients may need a series of treatments to obtain optimal results.
MicroLaserPeel treats several skin conditions and provides the following benefits:
- Minimal downtime
- Treats most areas of skin
- Results in one treatment
- Very little discomfort
- Takes a short time to complete
Who is a Good Candidate for MicroLaserPeel?
MicroLaserPeel is an excellent option for anyone who wants better results than achieved with microdermabrasion but does not want the healing time that may accompany a good chemical peel.
What is Involved in My MicroLaserPeel Treatment?
The MicroLaserPeel procedure uses an erbium laser to gently slough off a thin layer of damaged cells so that fresh cells can replace the dead cells. This process uses a computer-guided laser that gently glides over the treatment area. It restores your skin’s healthy appearance by balancing color and texture as well as making it smoother and softer.
While it is not painful, it may be slightly uncomfortable, so a topical numbing agent can be applied to the target area. Depending on each individual patient and the extent of treatment that is necessary, the entire MicroLaserPeel procedure should take only about 15 to 30 minutes to complete. You may feel a sensation like a mild sunburn immediately following the procedure which we counteract with ointments and cooling compresses for several minutes.
What to Expect After MicroLaserPeel
The recovery from MicroLaserPeel treatment is quick for most patients. Typically, they resume normal daily activities within three to four days. There may be some slight redness and mild swelling but these fade within a few days. We do recommend that patients wear a barrier ointment, such as Aquaphor or Vaseline, during the first couple of days to keep the new skin protected, and we advise them to avoid direct sunlight until the skin has fully healed.
When Will I See the Results from MicroLaserPeel?
As the dead skin sloughs off the face and the new skin comes in, the results become subtly more noticeable. This usually takes about three to four days.
How Much Does MicroLaserPeel Cost in Birmingham?
The cost of MicroLaserPeel varies with each patient as it depends on how many areas are treated and whether it is done on its own or with other treatments. We accept cash, checks and credit cards in addition to offering financing through CareCredit®.
