What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that remove dead skin cells and other imperfections. These treatments are offered in varying levels to peel away the affected skin from the outer to deeper layers of damage.

  • Treats varying degrees of skin damage and imperfections
  • In-office treatment
  • Short downtime
  • Little discomfort

Who is a Good Candidate for Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are an excellent skin care option for anyone with sun damage and other signs of aging. They are also a great way to revive dull skin in need of rejuvenation.

How Do I Prepare for My Chemical Peel?

Prior to having a chemical peel, we recommend you schedule a consultation with Dr. Core to evaluate your skin. Once the proper peel has been selected, he provides you with a detailed list of instructions to prepare your skin along with a prescription for anti-viral medication if you are prone to fever blisters. You should also avoid direct sun exposure the week prior to your chemical peels.

What is Involved in My Chemical Peels?

When applying a chemical peel, the face is first prepared for the solution. After that, the solution is brushed over the face for a certain amount of time. Once the process is complete, a neutralizing solution is applied to stop the peel.

Chemical peels are typically offered in three levels:

  • Light peels
  • Medium peels
  • Deep peels

What to Expect After Chemical Peels

Following your peel, you may have some flaking or peeling as the dead skin falls away. Depending on the level of the peel, your skin may range from a light or darker pink as the new skin replaces the damaged skin. With light peels, you may apply a specific moisturizer to minimize the flaking. Medium and deep peels often require more recuperation and healing.

When Will I See the Results from My Chemical Peel?

With light peels, the results are subtle and may require a few treatments to achieve the desired look. It usually takes a few days after each treatment to see visible results. Medium and deep peels take several weeks to heal fully but feature more dramatic results once healed.

The cost of chemical peels varies based on the level of the peel and whether other treatments are performed in conjunction with the peel. We review the costs with you during your consultation as well as payment and financing options through CareCredit®.
