A body lift is a surgical enhancement that contours your ideal curves by gently removing excess skin. The optimal way to maintain a healthy physique is through diet and exercise. Working out and eating right can shape your body… to a degree. But sometimes, excess bulk remains in places that are hard to sculpt without the help of a medical expert.

The human body is remarkably resilient and versatile. Our clientele continues to amaze us with all of the accomplishments they achieve, especially in the realm of weight loss. But even after you have shed the pounds, it is common for large amounts of excess, sagging skin to remain. A body lift procedure removes this skin and contours the areas beneath the surface. A lift is typically performed on the arms, stomach, sides, back, buttocks and/or thighs. Patients can either opt for an upper body lift or a lower body lift.
The skin above the waistline forms a harmonious suit that our upper body inhabits. The lines of the torso flow naturally between the dimensions of the chest and back outward to the abdomen and arms. To maintain the aesthetic balance of the upper body, a lift procedure gently removes excess skin and brings harmony to the human frame.
An upper body lift may entail brachioplasty (arm lift) to accentuate the strong, sleek contours of the arms. Brachioplasty artfully eliminates “bat wings” that dangle from the underarm area. Dr. Core will most likely employ liposuction to remove any unwanted pockets of fat that linger in the upper body. Even though you may have worked hard to lose excess weight, fat is distributed unevenly throughout the body. Liposuction bathes bulky deposits with a tumescent liquid that softens it for extraction. Dr. Core uses a thin vacuum tube called a cannula to contour away the loosened fat before redraping the skin to create a toned, taut look.
When sagging skin accumulates below the waist, it can hinder your range of motion. Walks become laborious, which decreases your will to exercise, leading to further health issues. Break the cycle of sedentary behavior with a lower body lift at Core Plastic Surgery. Dr. Core combines the elements of a thigh lift and liposuction to customize your enhancement journey.
A body lift highlights a newly slim body shape, and it also gives patients renewed confidence. When the outer contours of the skin match the physique within, an individual attains harmony of movement and appearance. Insecurities are trimmed away along with excess skin; the human spirit rises in conjunction with the body.
When anyone loses a lot of weight, it is common to have excess, sagging skin as a consequence. Lax tissue does not have enough elasticity to conform to the body’s new shape. A body lift can remove the excess amounts of skin. Dr. Core can assess your eligibility for a body lift during your comprehensive consultation. If a body lift is not the best approach for your unique goals, Dr. Core may recommend more focused individual procedures that target the “problem areas” that dissatisfy you most.

Once you have consulted with Dr. Core and scheduled your procedure, we provide you with detailed instructions to prepare for the surgery. This includes ensuring you have assistance at home following your surgery. Your body lift preparation is customized to your anatomy and goals. Please follow your directions closely and feel free to contact Core Plastic Surgery with any concerns you may have.
In general, it is advisable to quit smoking at least three weeks prior to any surgery. You should also stop taking blood-thinners like aspirin and ibuprofen in the week leading up to a body lift procedure. Dr. Core wants your circulation to function at peak performance to facilitate a successful operation and a happy recuperation.
Multiple body contouring procedures may be performed during one lift surgery. Depending on the areas being corrected, incisions are made to lift and tighten the skin, removing any excess, bulky tissue. The exact nature of your procedure will hinge on whether you want to focus on the lower body or upper body. A body lift typically takes about five or six hours to complete and is usually performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Core focuses his undivided expertise on your body lift, transforming your body according to your precise specifications.
The recovery from a body lift may take longer than an individual procedure. Once the surgery is complete, we fit you with a compression garment for support and to minimize swelling. Dr. Core may prescribe pain medication to address whatever discomfort results from your body lift surgery. We recommend you take a couple of weeks off work or away from daily activities to rest and allow the body to recover. All strenuous activities must be avoided for at least a month until the incisions have fully healed.
You will notice an immediate improvement upon the completion of your procedure. Excess skin has given way to a pleasing overall appearance, courtesy of Dr. Core. You may experience residual swelling, but this will gradually subside as your new contours emerge. The final results of a body lift can take about three months to reveal themselves. Over time, the scars are greatly diminished, making it possible to wear almost any style of clothing. To get a glimpse of your future satisfaction, read through Dr. Core’s rave reviews. He is committed to providing the best care available in the greater Birmingham area, and he is eager to share his skills with you.
As its name implies, a body lift provides overall improvement for the entire human frame. If your struggle with loose skin and excess fat is localized to the midsection, you may want to consider a tummy tuck instead of a body lift. Dr. Core can flatten the belly and redrape skin to accentuate six-pack abs or a shapely hourglass figure.
If weight loss or age have disproportionately affected your bust, a breast lift may be the best solution. Dr. Core has perfected the art of symmetry and can deliver amazing results that firm and elevate the contours of your chest.
