What is Lip Augmentation?
Lip augmentation restores the fullness to lips and the area around them using several methods to achieve a fuller, natural appearance. There is also an augmentation to reduce the size of excessively large lips to make them more proportionate to the rest of the face.
Lip augmentation is performed with:
- Lip implants
- Dermal fillers
- Fat transfer
Benefits of Lip Augmentation
Women often seek lip augmentation to restore a bright smile and because it offers the following benefits:
- Long-lasting results
- More positive self-image
- Little to no downtime or recovery
Who is a Good Candidate for Lip Augmentation?
Women typically seek out lip augmentation. It is done because they are unhappy with the size and shape of their lips and want a fuller smile.
How Do I Prepare for My Lip Augmentation?
Prior to undergoing lip augmentation, it is important to meet with Dr. Core to determine which method is the best option. Additionally, it is very important to stop smoking prior to your treatment as smoking has an adverse effect on this procedure. Finally, we give you detailed pre-op instructions so that you are prepared for your procedure.
What is Involved with My Lip Augmentation?
Your lip augmentation procedure depends on which method is used: dermal fillers, fat transfers, or lip implants. Dermal fillers involve injecting a specifically formulated gel into the lips to add volume and reshape them to create more definition.
With fat transfer, fat is harvested from another area of the body via liposuction and ultimately injected into the lips as a filler. While it may be slightly more invasive, the results are softer lips than with other dermal fillers.
Lip implants involve numbing the lips with a local anesthetic and placing implants in the lips via small incisions in the corners of the lips. After the implants are in the correct position, the incisions are closed.
What to Expect After Lip Augmentation
With injectable fillers, there is no recovery so you can return to your normal day following your treatment while the other treatments, such as implants and fat transfer, require a little more downtime. If there is any swelling, ice packs offer quick relief.
When Will I See the Results from My Lip Augmentation?
With lip augmentation, the results are immediate. There may be some swelling, so it is important to give it a few days to see the full results. Lip implants may take a bit longer as the incisions must heal.
How Much Does a Lip Augmentation Cost?
The cost of lip augmentation is based on which method is used as well as whether other treatments are performed at the same time. During your consultation with Dr. Core, he reviews your costs along with our payment options including financing through CareCredit®.
