Dr. Grady Core of our plastic surgery center is a pioneer in endoscopic cosmetic surgery and has performed endoscope-assisted procedures since the early 1990s.
Dr. Core co-developed the endoscopic technique in 1991 and has applied it to the face, breasts, and abdomen. He has taught surgeons around the world and regularly lectures in Australia, South America, and Europe.
The endoscope uses a tubular probe with a camera and light inserted through a small incision. A monitor magnifies internal structures so the surgeon can operate with enhanced visualization.
Endoscopic surgery may reduce bleeding, swelling, bruising, and nerve risk. Many patients can return home the same day.
Research continues on new applications, and known risks include additional scarring, nerve or blood vessel injury, skin injury, infection, and fluid accumulation.
