What is VASERlipo?
VASERlipo (vaser liposuction) is a minimally invasive body sculpting procedure that uses ultrasound waves to reduce fat and smooth the skin’s surface without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. Dr. Core is proud to have been one of the first plastic surgeons in the United States to have adapted Vaser liposuction and become an expert with ultrasonic-assisted lipoplasty. Vaser, an acronym for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance, is a minimally invasive liposuction tool delivering ultrasound energy in pulses through a probe specially designed to prevent overexposure.
Vaser allows layers of fat around muscle groups to be targeted, liquefied, and extracted.
Because of its precision, it is also known as “LipoSelection.” A single treatment generally takes anywhere from one hour to several hours depending on the extent of your needs.
Benefits of VASERlipo
VASERlipo is a preferred treatment for the removal of excess fat as it offers the following benefits:
- Targets fat cells specifically
- Achieves desired results in fewer treatments
- In-office procedure
- Extracts high-quality fat for transfer to other areas of the body
- Fewer complications than with other fat removal procedures
Who is a Good Candidate for VASERlipo (Vaser Liposuction)?
Candidates for VASERlipo are typically within about 30 percent of their ideal body weight and have firm skin with some elasticity. It is also important that those considering VASERlipo have realistic expectations about the results of the surgery.
How Do I Prepare for VASERlipo?
Preparation for VASERlipo starts with your consultation during which time Dr. Core evaluates the area of your body on which the procedure will be performed. Once he confirms VASERlipo is the best option for you, we go over the procedure and provide you with detailed pre-operative instructions.
What is Involved with My VASERlipo Procedure?
VASERlipo uses a handheld device that sends ultrasound waves to your targeted area of fat. The waves break up fatty tissue leaving surrounding tissues largely untouched.
By using VASER’s ultrasound technology, Dr. Core removes fat as gently as possible, as well as sculpts the treatment area into a more toned, attractive contour.
The treatment is performed under a local or general anesthesia and takes about one hour to perform.
Recovery from Vaser Liposuction
After the procedure, patients are generally recommended to take 12 hours to rest and to avoid strenuous activity, such as exercise for two to three weeks. Dr. Core will consult with you on an individual basis to determine the best plan for your recovery.
What to Expect After VASERlipo
You will receive personalized recovery instructions to guarantee you enjoy your best recovery and procedure outcomes.
You should rest for the remainder of the day following your VASERlipo treatment. Additionally, you may experience only minimal bruising and swelling. Finally, any strenuous activities should be avoided for about three weeks following the treatment. Swelling will continue to improve over the weeks following your VASER Liposuction.
Vaser Liposuction Results
Results from your Vaser liposuction can be apparent immediately and will improve as the body begins to heal. After consulting with Dr. Core prior to your surgery, you will have a good idea of what your outcome will be based on your goals for the procedure.
