Patient Safety - the most important part of your experience

In 2012 the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery launched an initiative to make safety the ultimate priority for every member. Our plastic surgery practice has long shared that philosophy. Here are the standards we maintain on your behalf:

1. Physician-monitored anesthesia: Core Plastic Surgery insists on physician anesthesia providers. Earlier in my career we relied on nurse anesthesia and occasionally had to transfer patients for issues ranging from asthma to arrhythmias. In our current hospital setting we have enjoyed a 100% safety record over the past 12 years. If you are not receiving physician-monitored anesthesia, you are not receiving the highest level of care.

2. Hospital-based operating rooms: Whether we are placing breast implants or performing facial surgery, the operating room environment influences outcomes. Our hospital ORs feature ultra-sterile protocols similar to those used for hip implants and heart valves, which contributes to our less than 1% capsular contracture rate for saline implants.

3. Immediate back-up: Although complications are rare in healthy patients, Trinity Hospital gives us critical care support just steps away. Knowing that specialists are on hand adds another layer of confidence for both our team and our patients.

These measures may cost more than the shortcuts taken in some private-office settings, but that investment goes directly toward your safety. Reach out if you would like to learn more about our protocols before scheduling surgery.
