What is miraDry?

miraDry is a non-invasive treatment FDA approved to reduce odor and sweat glands in the underarm area. The treatment also makes it possible to no longer need deodorants and antiperspirants, which may contain lead and other toxic chemicals.

Who is a Good Candidate for miraDry?

Anyone is a candidate for miraDry whether they sweat a lot or just a little. miraDry can mean you no longer need to have fear of embarrassing odor and sweat stains in the armpit area. You may not even need to apply antiperspirant after treatment.

What is Involved in My miraDry Treatment?

miraDry is performed in our office using a local anesthetic to numb the areas. A handpiece is placed against the underarm skin then moved around in a specific pattern to target sweat glands. When activated, a vacuum suction draws sweat glands closer to the surface for removal.

At that point, microwave energy goes through the skin and tissues to penetrate and destroy the sweat glands. As this happens, a cooling system protects the surrounding skin and tissues. The procedure takes about an hour to complete.

What to Expect After miraDry

There is minimal downtime for most patients, with them resuming normal activity right after treatment and exercise within just a few days.

When Will I See the Results from miraDry?

Since sweat glands are destroyed, the results are immediate and long lasting. Please note that miraDry does not affect your body’s natural ability to cool itself. There are between two to four million sweat glands in the human body of which only about two percent are found in the underarm area.
