Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction (UAL)

Dr. Core’s primary method for body contouring uses ultrasonic assisted technology. Dr. Core was the first surgeon in Alabama to use the Vaser machine, and he still utilizes Vaser to this date. Dr. Core’s body contouring experience has been modified over the years to stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques .

The Vaser utilizes small, slender, solid probes which are passed gently through the subcutaneous fat in order to liquefy fat using energy (sound waves) specific only for the fat; therefore, other structures under the skin such as blood vessels, nerves, and supporting collagen structures are spared. As a result, ultrasonic assisted liposuction, has a much lower incidence of contour deformities. Additionally, UAL has been very helpful in correcting contour deformity from other types of liposuction performed elsewhere.

In addition to Vaser technology, Dr. Core utilizes the latest fat transfer techniques. These techniques help in the molding and shaping of specific areas of the body, in performing such procedures as the Brazilian butt-lift, and for the correction of prior contour deformities.

The risks from ultrasonic assisted lipoplasty are minimal but include such things as injury to the subdermal vascular plexus if done over aggressively and a condition called “end hits”, where the probe was allowed to rest against the skin too long. Due to Dr. Core’s long experience with ultrasonic technology dating back to 1996, complications such as this are quite rare.

Dr. Core has also evaluated all of the other available forms of lipo-contouring such as Smart Lipo, power assisted liposuction (PAL), and superficial tumescent liposuction. He has found that the ultrasonic assisted lipo-contouring using the Vaser is far superior to all of these. In fact, according to Dr. Core, is asked which technique would be considered truly “smart”, ultrasonic is by far the “smartest”.

Dr. Core’s expertise with UAL resulted in his being the invited guest speaker at the University of Rome, Italy, with Dr. Michelle Zochi, the inventor of UAL, to present his experience in the technique on the international stage. Dr. Core was also a founding member of the International Society for Ultrasonic Surgery so his experience with this technology is truly world class.
